When life gives you lemons…

In the real design world, things are very different from the HGTV shows with all the lights, camera, action. A designer might have to innovate more than usual, especially if there are limited local resources. Living in the islands truly presents a problem when it comes to sourcing materials. As you can imagine, this can be an enormous challenge when time is of the essence. Yet, as a professional designer I try not to transfer the stress of searching for the perfect elements onto my clients.

I’ll share one of my recent projects with you. After a few weeks of working on the ideal solution for a space, the project was finally approved with less than two weeks left before the due date. Without much time to source the items I had specified, we had to resort to scouring the island for possible solutions. Not to mention, the island was still on a partial lockdown and the shelves at most of the homestores were practically empty. Would you like to see the results?
